Thermal Management Vendor Opens New Factory and Office

Sep 27, 2006 2:25 PM

Lytron has opened a factory and corporate office space in Woburn, Mass.  With this space, north of Boston, Lytron has doubled its square footage and increased its manufacturing capabilities.  It has also made room for equipment and the addition of staff from its recent acquisition of Lockhart Industries.

Lytron's latest factory was designed to be flexible and agile for maximum throughput of a large number of custom and standard parts. The company has over 100 standard parts and more than half of the company's revenue is from custom parts, making flexibility and agility essential. To handle its wide variety of challenging parts, Lytron has invested heavily in equipment and skilled labor.

The factory has extensive in-house manufacturing capabilities, including CNC machining, torch brazing, TIG welding, vacuum-brazing, high-speed fin making, and more. To optimize factory performance, the company uses lean manufacturing principles, including point-of-use inventory and just-in-time, or "kanban", production systems. The company also has extensive testing capabilities, including two wind tunnels and a quality control laboratory.  Tours of the Lytron factory and corporate offices are available upon request.
