Pentadyne Power will supply Sparrow Hospital with an additional six of its flywheels, following two previous orders totaling seven flywheels. This latest six-unit order will be used with three 300-kVA UPS systems that will protect a large-scale data center in the hospital's west wing.
Last year, Sparrow Hospital, which has more than 500 beds, ordered six Pentadyne-made flywheel systems to use with a 1000-kVA UPS protecting the hospital's six labs for state-of-the-art cardiac and neurological catheterization procedures. In May of 2007, the hospital ordered one additional unit to mate with a 130-kVA UPS system protecting a number of computer servers at the hospital.
