From Texas Instruments, the TPS40210 is a 4.5-V to 52-V nonsynchronous boost controller for industrial and battery-powered applications where the output is a regulated current instead of a regulated voltage. The device, which uses fixed-frequency current-mode control, supports design configurations that require a grounded source n-channel FET, including boost, flyback and SEPIC topologies.

Output current: on-chip gate-driver sources and sinks 400 mA typ.

Features: programmable soft start, several overcurrent protection features including a current feedback threshold mechanism in the control loop; internal slope compensation, adjustable oscillator frequency, integrated low-side driver, external synchronization capability, 700-mV reference or a 260-mV reference in related model (TPS40211)
