Supertex’s HV862 is a dimmable, low-audio-noise, dual electroluminescent (EL) lamp driver designed to backlight keypads. Cellular phones that have two separate keypads, such as the slider type, can now be driven independently with a single IC. The IC features independent input controls for lamp selection, 180 VPK-PK output voltage for high brightness, and adjustable output voltage regulation for dimming capability.
The device uses a single inductor and a minimum number of passive components. It is available in a QFN-16 package (HV862K7-G). Package size is 3 mm x 3 mm. Samples are available, and pricing is $1.25 each for the HV862K7-G in 1000-unit quantities.
