From Powerex, a hybrid integrated circuit for driving IGBT modules in 690-V class industrial inverters features an overcurrent protection function based on desaturation detection. The VLA500K-01R gate driver, which consists of an optimally isolated gate-drive amplifier and an isolated dc-to-dc converter, is recommended for 1700-V IGBT modules up to 1000 A.
Other features include a space-saving SIP outline, short-circuit protection (with fault output), variable fall time on short-circuit protection, electrical isolation between input and output (4000Vrms for 1 minute), and TTL compatible input. Samples are available with unit pricing of $32.77 in quantities of 100.
