Fairchild Semiconductor’s high-voltage gate driver ICs feature a common-mode dv/dt noise-canceling circuit for achieving noise immunity. The FAN7383, FAN7384 and FAN73832 offer savings of 50% pc board area compared to optocoupler or pulse transformer-based solutions.
Fairchild's HVICs are the optimal solution for driving MOSFETs and IGBTs in a wide array of consumer and industrial applications up to 600 V. These include inverter motor drives, switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and electronic ballasts.
Fairchild's HVICs feature level-shift circuitry for high-side driver operation with negative VS swings of up to -9.8 V (at VBS = 15 V). This results in the devices' ability to eliminate an extra diode. In addition, these HVICs provide noise immunity by utilizing a common-mode dv/dt noise-canceling circuit.
To further enhance efficiency, these HVICs include a floating channel designed for bootstrap operation to +600 V. They also increase reliability by providing under-voltage lockout (UVLO) on both channels, and an 11-V to 20-V supply range for VCC.
Both the FAN7383 and FAN73832 source and sink 350 mA and 650 mA, respectively. The FAN7384 can source 250 mA and sink 500 mA.
The FAN7383 is available in a 14-SOP package for $0.78. The FAN7384 is also packaged in a 14-SOP and is priced at $0.80. The FAN73832 can be housed in either a 8-SOP or and 8-DIP package; it is priced at $0.78.
