Murata has added an expanded range of digitally controlled, PMBus compatible OKDL products to Murata Power Solutions' Okami series of non-isolated point-of-load (PoL) DC-DC converters. The OKDL-T/6-W12, OKDL-T/12-W12, and OKDL-T/18-W12 deliver 6, 12, and 18A respectively. They are also capable of being monitored and configured via PMBus communications. Exhibiting versatility, the new models accept input voltages from 4.5V to 14V and have an adjustable output voltage range from 0.6V to 5V (1.8V max for 18A model). Designed for a minimal footprint, the high-power-density LGA modules measure just 12.2 x 12.2 x 8.0 mm. The OKDL converters offer a typical efficiency figure of 91.6% at 12Vin, and are able to operate in a temperature range of -30 to +95 degrees C.
The wide operating temperature range of the OKDL products makes it ideal in applications such as networking, computing, servers, telecom, industrial, and other applications of distributed power. The OKDL products are designed to power low-voltage silicon devices such as CPUs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, logic circuits, memory, and other analog/digital devices in mixed voltage systems.
With their digital control and PMBus compatibility, the converters offer easy user configuration and monitoring. All power management functions can be reconfigured for user-specific needs using the PMBus interface.
Standard features include short circuit, over current, over voltage, over temperature, and input under voltage protection, voltage margining and tracking, power good, remote sense, and remote on/off. The converters employ adaptive compensation of the PWM control loop, a phase spreading feature to reduce input capacitance, synchronization to reduce EMI filtering, and an optimized dead time control.

The new CCT406393-600-36 current sensor has a clamp inner diameter of 36 mm and external dimensions of 56 mm x 67 mm x 96 mm. With a current transformation ratio of 3000:1, the output current is 200 mA. The new clamp AC current sensor achieves its high current rating thanks to its optimized sensor shape and high-performance ferrite material developed especially for current sensors. Moreover, the CCT series is manufactured with automated winding and soldering processes to ensure high quality.

Stackpole Electronics' ASR Series of anti-surge metal film resistors are rated for high voltage applications. Working voltage for the ASR Series ranges from 1150 to 4000 volts with overload voltage from 1500 to 5000 volts. In addition, the ASR can handle high voltage capacitor discharges from 3KV for the smaller sizes up to 10KV for the larger. Compared to commonly used COT control, Torex’s HiSAT-COT control enables suppression of frequency fluctuations caused by the load and input voltage, and achieves a transient response that is the world’s fastest class in low voltage application area. PWM control or PWM/PFM auto switching control are available as an operation mode and the mode is selectable by using MODE pin. Exar Corporation introduced the XR76116 and XR76120, 15A and 20A point-of-load (POL) step-down buck switching regulators using the latest generation of Exar's patented emulated current mode constant on-time (COT) control. This control loop provides the fast transient response required in demanding server applications while making implementation simple and easy. Improved gate driver technology has reduced dead times to 10ns, resulting in improved efficiency across the entire operating range.
The XR76116 and XR76120 extend the output current range of the PowerBloxTM line of Exar's high current POL regulators up to 20A. The patented COT control loop enables operation with ceramic output capacitors without degradation in transient performance and eliminates loop compensation components, making a simpler and more reliable design. Additional features targeted at server applications include a power good pin which maintains a low impedance when the chip is unpowered thereby avoiding false power good signals. Also, there is a second output voltage sense pin, ensuring any failure of the main feedback does not result on damaging voltages being applied to expensive low voltage digital circuitry.
