AVX has extended its TCH Series high voltage polymer chip capacitors with the addition of a new 33µF/75V code. The capacitors are packaged in hermetically sealed ceramic cases filled with inert gas in order to eliminate the potential for materials and performance degradation resulting from exposure to high temperature, high humidity, and ambient atmosphere. They are a polymer solution for mission-critical applications, including: automotive, avionics, aerospace, defense, pulse power, and power supplies.
Manufactured and screened using AVX's patented Q-Process, which identifies and removes components that may experience excessive parametric shifts or operational instability, TCH Series polymer chip capacitors exhibit high reliability endurance of up to 10,000 hours at 85ºC and rated temperature, and exhibit: low ESR, low derating capabilities, low leakage current (0.1CV), high ripple current, high capacitance (22µF to 330µF), and the highest voltages (10-100V) of any space-grade SMD polymer capacitor currently available on the market.
Housed in large CTC-21D hermetically sealed cases especially designed to provide high capacitance and stable operation in harsh environments, TCH Series high voltage polymer chip capacitors are available with gold-plated J-lead, tin/lead-plated J-lead, and gold-plated undertab terminations. The dimensions for TCH Series capacitors with J-leads are 11.5mm x 12.5mm x 6.15mm, and the dimensions for those with undertab terminations are 11mm x 12.5mm x 5.95mm.
Molex is now offering the capability to create flat flex and etched polyimide Premo-FlexTM Cable Jumpers and assemblies with low-voltage differential signal (LVDS) connectors. This new capability provides ready-to-use terminated cable jumpers for LVDS applications, simplifying manufacturing processes and streamlining procurement.
Premo-Flex LVDS Cable Jumpers and assemblies deliver robust and superior signal integrity performance over long distances and are ideal for applications such as large displays and HDTVs. Like previously released options, the new custom cable jumpers and assemblies are durable, flexible and available in a variety of pitches, cable lengths, thicknesses and formats.
Connector options for Premo-Flex LVDS Cable Jumpers and assemblies include: one-piece (15, 24 and 33 circuits), two-piece (30, 50 and 80 circuits), and one-touch LVDS (41 and 51 circuits). “These options provide customers with a great deal of design flexibility,” said David Falla, associate product manager, Molex. “The one-piece system provides strong retention and space savings, while the two-piece system offers high circuit sizes.”
Premo-Flex LVDS Cable Jumpers and assemblies offer 100-Ohms-controlled impedance, making them suitable for HD video displays, while grounding terminals accommodate high-speed, high-frequency signal requirements. The jumpers and assemblies are gold-plated and can operate in a temperature range from -40 to +80°C.
The LTC7149 is a high efficiency, 60V, 4A synchronous buck regulator for negative output voltage supplies. It incorporates a current mode architecture with user selectable internal or external loop compensation and an output voltage that is programmed with a single external resistor. The LTC7149 operates from an input voltage range of 3.4V to 60V and provides an adjustable output voltage from 0V to -28V, while delivering up to 4A of continuous output current. Its wide input and output voltage ranges make it ideal for a wide range of test, measurement and industrial applications. The LTC7149's unique design includes an accurate internally generated 50µA current source on the ISET pin that enables it to deliver outputs as low as -28V with the use of a single external programming resistor. Furthermore, the LTC7149 offers ±0.8% output voltage accuracy. Its switching frequency is user programmable from 300kHz to 3MHz, enabling the use of tiny, low cost capacitors and inductors. Combined with a 28-lead 4mm x 5mm QFN or thermally enhanced TSSOP package, it offers a very compact solution footprint.
The LTC7149 uses internal switches with RDS(ON) of only 110mW and 50mW to deliver efficiencies as high as 92%. Burst Mode operation offers high efficiency at light loads, requiring only 440µA of quiescent current. For noise sensitive applications, the LTC7149 can run in forced continuous mode, offering very low output ripple. It also includes ground-referenced clock and PGOOD pins, eliminating the need for level shifters. Additional features include a power good voltage monitor, programmable wire drop compensation, external synchronization capability and thermal protection.
Allegro MicroSystems announced two new current sensor ICs that are economical and precise solutions for AC or DC current sensing. These devices are ideal for use in industrial, commercial, and communication systems that require very high voltage isolation. These devices are not for use in automotive applications. Both the ACS724KMA (5 V) and the ACS725KMA (3.3 V) are available in a very small package that is ideal for space-constrained applications while saving cost due to reduced board area. They are packaged in a high-isolation SOIC16 wide body surface mount package that provides reinforced isolation. The differential sensing technology provides immunity to interfering common mode magnetic fields from adjacent current traces or motors. Typical applications include motor control, load detection and management, switched-mode power supplies, and overcurrent fault protection.
Both devices consist of a precise, low-offset, linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. Applied current flowing through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field which is sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. The current is sensed differentially in order to reject common-mode fields, improving accuracy in magnetically noisy environments. The inherent device accuracy is optimized through the close proximity of the magnetic field to the Hall transducer. A precise, proportional voltage is provided by the low-offset, chopper-stabilized BiCMOS Hall IC, which includes Allegro's patented digital temperature compensation, resulting in extremely accurate performance over temperature.
Vishay Intertechnology introduced six new surface-mount Schottky barrier rectifiers in the low-profile DO-219AB (SMF) package. Providing space-saving alternatives to SMA and SOD123W packages, the Vishay Semiconductors SS1FL3, SS2FL3, SS1FL4, SS2FL4, SS1FH10, and SS2FH10 provide reverse voltages of 30 V, 40 V, and 100 V and offer high current ratings up to 2 A for automotive and commercial applications, and industrial applications such as freewheeling diodes for inductive loads like relays, valves, and transformers.
With a typical height of 0.98 mm, the rectifiers' SMF package is 46 % lower than the conventional SMA package — reducing weight by 23 % and saving 49 % more PCB space — and 2 % lower than the SOD123W package while sharing the same footprint size. The SMF (flat lead) provides improved thermal resistance of 21 °C/W from junction to lead, compared with the conventional SMA (J-lead) package with thermal resistance of 28 °C/W from junction to lead. Offering low forward voltage drops down to 0.31 V at 1 A, the devices reduce power loss and improve efficiency in high-frequency inverters, DC/DC converters, and freewheeling and polarity protection diodes.
All devices released today are available in AEC-Q101-qualified versions. The rectifiers feature a maximum operating junction temperature to +175 °C and an MSL moisture sensitivity level of 1, per J-STD-020, LF maximum peak of 260 °C. Compliant with RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and halogen-free according to JEDEC JS709A standards, the devices are wave- and reflow-solderable.
SCHURTER is expanding its successful single-phase filter family, FMAB NEO, with new design series P and Q. This range of single-phase filters combines high performance in a compact design. The new series extends the range of current ratings up to 60 A, with an extended temperature range from -40 °C to 100 °C
The new FMAB filter family offers 3 different levels of design flexibility. FMAB NEO design N comes with two large X capacitors, which offer high symmetrical attenuation in the lower frequency range. The new filter design P contains two standard X capacitors for high symmetrical attenuation, while Design Q offers one X capacitor for good symmetrical attenuation. With the extended temperature range from -40 to 100 °C, all filters are suitable for applications used in harsh environments.
The FMAB NEO filters have a polished steel housing with a closed filter base. The filter is thus effectively and completely shielded, regardless of how it is mounted. The ISL7823x synchronous step-down DC/DC converters use a current mode control architecture to deliver fast transient response and excellent loop stability. TDK Corporation announces the introduction of the 75W rated TDK-Lambda i6AN series of negative output non-isolated DC-DC converters. Capable of operating from an input voltage of +9V to +40V, the step-down converter delivers an output voltage that can be adjustable from -3.3V to -30V and output currents of up to 8A. The series is designed to be used in a wide range of applications including medical, communications, industrial and test and measurement equipment.
In a 1/16th brick form factor, measuring 33 x 22.9 x 12.7mm, the converters can be used in conjunction with a single output 12V, 24V or 36V AC-DC power supply to generate additional regulated high current outputs, with or without battery back-up.
With efficiencies of up to 94%, power losses are minimized allowing the products to operate in harsh ambient temperatures of -40oC to +125oC even with low airflow requirements. The need for external output capacitance is reduced due to an optimized dynamic voltage response, thus reducing board space requirements.
The models include an output voltage adjustment pin, positive or negative logic remote on-off, remote sense, input under-voltage, over-current and thermal protection. All models are certified to UL/CSA 60950-1, IEC/EN 60950-1 and carry the CE mark for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives.
