Micro-Measurements, a Vishay Precision Group (VPG) brand introduced its first high-speed data acquisition system for dynamic test and measurement applications. Featuring a scanner with 12 RJ-45 strain gage inputs and four configurable auxiliary slots to accommodate signals from thermocouples, piezoelectric sensors (both charge mode and voltage mode), and high-level voltage sensors, the System 9000 StrainSmart Data Acquisition System provides scanning rates up to 50,000 samples/second; supports full-, half-, or quarter-bridge configurations; and offers built-in precision bridge completion for 120 Ω, 350 Ω, and 1000 Ω bridges.
Optimized for automotive, aerospace, rail, consumer, and military testing applications, all System 9000 channels are sampled simultaneously. Users can deploy scanners independently or use up to three together for 48 channels (36 strain gage and 12 configurable) of fully synchronized data acquisition. Each channel's data is processed in a 24-bit digital signal processor with filtering via finite impulse response (FIR) multi-state filters for excellent noise rejection, stability, and unsurpassed measurement accuracy. The processors over-sample data at a rate of 128 times the selected rate, providing high-quality, low-noise data at rates of 50,000, 25,000, 10,000, and 5,000 samples/second - without the need for signal averaging.
TE Connectivity announced the launch of MC801 fiber optical connectors. This product supports numerous high-speed protocols, offering low insertion loss across multiple connector breaks, through the use of physical contact optical technology.
Fiber optics are increasingly being used as a replacement for copper systems, owing to its security, efficiency, light weight and high transmission capacity. Fiber optic cables and connectors provide an effective transmission medium, as they are less affected by external and internal interference. ARINC 801 is an industry standard optical connector and terminus specification that has become the preferred solution for physical contact optics across multiple applications. Target markets of the TE MC801 product include commercial aerospace, military aerospace, ground vehicles and soldier systems, and C5ISR: Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance. The use of LED strip PCB's is popular in the efficient production of electrical lighting solutions. Würth Elektronik is now introducing a completely new series of connectors for connecting LED strip PCB's: WR-LECO is available with two, three, four or five poles and is attractive due to its very flat design, only 2.45 mm high. The grid spacing is 1.5 mm. The SMD board-to-board connector for LED applications is made of white plastic to minimize shading. Locking allows the connector to create excellent holding forces.

Sensirion is presenting its new high-accuracy digital temperature sensor STS3x. The new STS3x temperature sensor is based on the same chip as the SHT3x humidity sensors and comes in a tiny eight-pin DFN package measuring only 2.5 × 2.5 mm2 with a height of 0.9 mm. Its tiny size and the wide supply voltage range of 2.4 V to 5.5 V allow for integration in a great variety of applications. The sensor delivers outstanding performance and a remarkably high accuracy of +/-0.3°Cover an extensive temperature range combined with low power consumption - an especially important consideration for battery-operated devices.
The industry-proven CMOSens technology is the basis of the STS3x sensor, offering increased intelligence, reliability, and improved accuracy compared to its predecessors. Furthermore, the sensor demonstrates a very fast start-up and response time, and its functionality includes enhanced signal processing, two distinctive and user selectable I2C addresses and communication speeds of up to 1 MHz. The STS3x temperature sensor is calibrated to provide a linearized, digital output that is compensated for supply voltage instabilities. Qualification is based on JESD 47, with a dedicated automotive qualification plan certified according to AEC Q100. The alert option with definable temperature set points enables using the sensor as a watchdog and can thus strongly optimize overall power consumption.
The STS3x sensor is ideal for demanding data logger and temperature compensation applications. Due to its high accuracy, body temperature measurement in wearable devices and temperature calibration in automotive components are among the main target applications.
XP Power announced the EME05 series of ultra-compact, single output, 5 Watt AC-DC power supplies. Believed to be one of the smallest 5 Watt supplies on the market and available in either an encapsulated or open frame mechanical format, the EME05 measures just 1.4 x 0.94 x 0.69 inches, taking up minimal space in the end application.
The EME05 is approved to the 3rd edition of the international medical safety standards EN60601-1:2006 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1:2005. The device provides a reinforced (double) insulation with 4000 VAC input / output isolation and two means of patient protection (2 x MOPP).
The convection-cooled series provides eight single output models covering all the popular nominal outputs from 3.3 to 48 VDC. A peak load capability allows up to 130% of the rated output power to be available for up to 30 seconds. This is ideal for accommodating application start-up where a higher load is required for a relatively short period. This approach allows a designer to save valuable board space and cost rather than having to specify a higher rated and potentially larger power supply in order to meet peak loads.
The EME05 has universal input and offers full power across the complete input range of 90-264 VAC without any derating. All models offer Class II construction so no earth/ground connection is required. The units meet the EN55011 Class B EMI standard for conducted and radiated emissions. No additional filtering components are required, saving PCB space and BOM costs.
Murata announces the third generation of the DMR20 series of round, miniature digital panel frequency monitors. Designed to measure and display AC mains frequencies in the range of 45 to 65 Hertz, over an input voltage of 85 to 264 VAC, the monitor is suitable for mounting in an industry-standard “oiltight” 30 and 30.5 mm / 1.2 inch round panel cutout.
The DMR20-1-FM-R-C frequency monitor is a self-powered, 2-wire meter that does not require any additional external power sources. Equipped with a quartz crystal-controlled microcontroller-based timing circuitry, this monitor is a companion product to Murata’s AC voltmeter, model number DMR20-1-ACV-R-C.
The meter has a display resolution of one hundredth of a Hertz (0.01Hz) from 45 to 65 Hertz, making it an attractive replacement for outdated analog frequency meters and meaning that no additional components or separate power supply is required for the unit.
The unit features a rugged housing with seamless construction on all sides, providing protection to IP67 / NEMA 6 specifications for dust, dirt, and moisture. Linear Technology announces the LT8601, a 42V input capable, high efficiency triple output synchronous monolithic step-down switching regulator. Its triple channel design combines two high voltage 2.5A and 1.5A channels with a lower voltage 1.8A channel to deliver three independent voltage outputs as low as 0.8V. Its synchronous rectification topology delivers up to 93% efficiency while Burst Mode operation keeps quiescent current under 30µA (all channels) in no-load standby conditions, ideal for always-on systems. For noise sensitive applications, the LT8601 can utilize its pulse-skipping mode to minimize switching noise and it meets the CISPR25, Class 5 EMI requirements. Switching frequency can be programmed from 250kHz to 2.2MHz and is synchronizable throughout this range.
The LT8601’s 60ns minimum on-time enables 16VIN to 0.8VOUT step-down conversions while switching at 2MHz, enabling designers to avoid critical noise-sensitive frequency bands, such as AM radio, while using a very compact solution footprint. Its 3V to 42V input voltage range is ideal for automotive applications which must regulate through cold-crank and stop-start scenarios with minimum input voltages as low as 3V and load dump transients in excess of 40V. Each channel of the LT8601 maintains a minimum dropout voltage of only 250mV at 1A under all conditions, enabling it to excel in scenarios such as automotive cold-crank. Programmable power-on reset and power good indicators for each channel ensure overall system reliability. The LT8601’s 40-lead thermally enhanced 6mm x 6mm QFN package and high switching frequency keeps external inductors and capacitors small, providing a compact, thermally efficient footprint.
Allegro MicroSystems announces the release of the world's first LED driver IC that features an integrated Hall-effect switch. The A1569 enables compact, elegant, reliable, and fault-tolerant LED lighting with minimal electrical engineering and low component-count and cost. A single silicon chip integrates: a Hall plate, a small-signal amplifier, chopper stabilization, a Schmitt trigger, and a LED driver with soft on/off and short circuit and thermal protection with automatic recovery. The integrated solid-state Hall-effect switch supports silent, sealed, contactless activation and offers a significant upgrade from failure-prone mechanical switches.
The LED driver features low-noise, adjustable, linear drive of up to 150 mA into one or more LEDs. An optional external capacitor programs the turn-on/turn-off rate, adding an elegant theater effect. It is controlled by the Hall-effect switch and turns on and off in response to a magnet. The Hall-effect switch is omnipolar (responsive to both North and South magnetic poles) and highly sensitive (BOP = 40 G) to support a wide range of mechanical configurations and enclosures with various air gaps and degrees of mechanical misalignment.
This new device complements Allegro Microsystem's existing portfolios of LED drivers and Hall-effect switches. It is targeted at consumer electronics, white goods, boats, RVs, motorcycles, and interior and auxiliary automotive lighting applications such as glove boxes, center consoles, vanity mirrors, trunks/boots, truck beds, etc. The on-board regulator permits operation with supply voltages of 7 to 24 V. Reliability and EMC performance are enhanced with Zener clamps, output short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown, and reverse-battery protection.

The RClamp0564P expands Semtech's HDMI family of TVS devices targeted at the rapidly growing segment of Ultra HD (4K2K) systems featuring the latest HDMI 2.0 interface.
