Molex introduces its NeoPress High-Speed Mezzanine System. The modular system - with tunable differential pairs, low stack heights, and compliant-pin terminations with a staggered interface configuration - offers data rates up to 28 Gbps," said Nadine Dytko-Madsen, new product development manager, Molex. "That makes it ideal for new, space-constrained telecom, automation and medical applications that demand higher speeds and smaller form factors." A mirrored interface allows compact stack height and simplified PCB routing.
"PCBs sometimes need to be reused or reworked," Dytko-Madsen added. "Traditional SMT connectors are permanently affixed, making it virtually impossible to reuse PCBs, and when an SMT termination fails, attempting to rework it creates a short. An alternative, press-fit mezzanine connectors, would allow reuse, but they typically offer lower signal integrity."
The NeoPress System solves these issues by providing compliant-pin termination while minimizing near-end and far-end crosstalk, matching the signal integrity of NeoScale™ SMT connectors. Moreover, the compliant pin allows designers to rework the board and maximize system utility without sacrificing signal integrity.
A patent-pending modular triad wafer design includes high-speed differential pairs that can be tuned to 85-to-100-Ohm impedances, creating a flexible, customizable system. System options include four triad configurations, high-speed single-ended traces and low-speed single-ended lines and power contacts. These options allow PCB designers to conserve PCB real estate by supporting low- and high-speed signals and power requirements with one compact connector.
The system is ideal for high-density telecommunications and networking devices, such as hubs, servers, NAS towers and rack-mount servers. It can also be used in industrial automation and medical applications.

Eltek is announcing the launch of the Rectiverter, a power conversion module combining the functions of a rectifier, an inverter and a "static transfer switch" in one. The Rectiverter is a 3-port bidirectional converter that simplifies solutions providing both AC and DC power to critical loads in telecom, data center and industrial applications. It features a power conversion efficiency of 96% in mains mode and 94% when operating as an inverter.
Combining a rectifier, which converts AC to DC, and an inverter, which converts DC to AC into one box simplifies the power system complexity, reduces system size and improves overall system reliability, resulting in a reduced total cost of ownership over the product lifetime.
Eltek's first product on the market is the Rectiverter HE, delivering 230V/1500W AC and 48V/1200W DC. It features high power conversion efficiency, and is controlled by a single Eltek Smartpack controller. Rectiverter systems are available as single or 3 phase, input and output, and can be scaled to meet any power demand.

TDK Corporation presents the P27 series of EPCOS NTC inrush current limiters (ICLs) with a nominal disk diameter of 27 mm and lead spacing of 7.5 mm, thus extending the portfolio of large NTC ICLs for industrial electronics applications.
The high material density of the new NTC ICLs enables a volume-efficient, high-performance design with a disk thickness of just 7 mm. The new P27 series with the ordering code B57127P0*M301 features extremely stable and reliable electrical characteristics. It can handle high currents of up to 30 A, depending on type. Thanks to their very low resistance in the operating state, NTC ICLs offer very low power dissipation in both AC and DC circuits. The large-diameter components of the new P27 series are especially suitable for use in large electric motors and drives and all kinds of high-watt power supplies as well as in industrial applications such as welding and plasma cutting equipment.
The coating material of the P27 series of ICLs is flame retardant and UL 94 V-0 approved. The new components are RoHS-compatible and UL approved (E69802). Samples of the P27 series are available.
SMP Sintermetalle Prometheus GmbH, German manufacturer of soft-magnetic materials and inductive components, based in Graben-Neudorf near Karlsruhe, has developed components for medical technology applications. These inductive components are used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT), for example. Designed as filter or mains chokes they are not only compact, low-loss and energy efficient but also exceptionally quiet in operation, essential qualities for these demanding medical technology applications.
In MRI scanners, the components are installed in the "gradient amplifiers", which supply output voltages and currents and control the gradient coils that encode the resonance signals for subsequent image reconstruction. The filter and mains chokes are designed to ensure a clean sinusoidal waveform and low-loss feedback of the unused energy.
Special magnetostriction-free materials, which SMP develops and produces according to individual customer specifications, ensure that components run very quietly. The powder composite materials feature low eddy current and magnetic reversal losses. The components are noted for their low loss balances and optimal EMC properties. They are also maintenance-free.
The three-dimensional isotropy of the materials enables compact, lightweight structures, because the magnetic circuits are minimized. This also lowers the magnetic field strength, and the quantity of winding material used can be significantly reduced. The materials have a high saturation induction, up to 2 Tesla, and the oscillation behaviour of the choke can be adjusted specifically by using certain materials or appropriate, magnetically coupled designs with multiple coils.
Sensirion's SDP3x differential pressure sensor is considerably smaller than other sensors in its segment. The fully calibrated and temperature-compensated differential pressure sensors are available in a variety of versions. The SDP31 is digital with an I2C interface, and the SDP36 has an analog output signal. Both versions measure a bi-directional flow range of up to 500 Pa. In 2016, new products with extended measurement ranges and different features will be added to the SDP3x series.

Linear Technology Corporation introduces the LTC7851/-1, a quad output multiphase synchronous step-down DC/DC controller with accurate current sharing between phases and differential output voltage sensing. This controller works in conjunction with external power train devices such as DrMOS and power blocks as well as discrete N-channel MOSFETs and associated gate drivers, enabling flexible design configurations. Up to 8 phases with two ICs can be paralleled and can be clocked out-of-phase to minimize input and output filtering for very high current requirements up to 260A. Applications include power distribution and industrial systems, FPGA, DSP, processor and ASIC supplies.
The LTC7851/-1's internal current share loop equalizes current between phases when paralleled, enabling accurate current sharing between phases across multiple ICs, both in steady state and during a transient event. It operates with a VCC supply voltage from 3V to 5.5V, is designed for step-down conversion from an input voltage from 3V to 27V and produces one to four independent output voltages ranging from 0.6V to 5V. The device's voltage mode control architecture allows for a selectable fixed operating frequency from 250kHz to 2.25MHz or it can be synchronized to an external clock over the same range.
The output current is sensed by monitoring the voltage drop across the output inductor (DCR) for maximum efficiency or by using a low value sense resistor. The onboard differential amplifiers provide true remote output voltage sensing for all outputs of both VOUT and ground terminals for high accuracy regulation. The LTC7851-1 is similar to the LTC7851, but with a lower current sense amplifier gain, ideal for power train applications using DrMOS with internal current sense capability.
