Spotlight on Digital Power
Vertical mount planar magnetics provides 500Watts of peak output power, in a push-pull converter at 300kHz. The primary current is more than 60Amps peak, with less than 3Watts of total power dissipation. The size is 30mmL x 15mmW x 25mmH. A board is used to align all the pins and maintain the precise dimensions. With no air flow and no heatsink, at 100ºC ambient temperature, the temperature rise is only about 45ºC.
