PTC Thermistors Measure High Surface Temperatures

Oct 31, 2007 11:39 AM

Vishay Intertechnology’s series of self-regulating positive-temperature-coefficient (PTC) thermistors are designed to operate over a -40°C to +85°C temperature range and are rated for surface temperatures from 100°C to 200°C. The directly heated PTCHP series devices are optimized for use as heating elements in home appliances such as thermal actuators, insecticide and perfume vaporizers, and small warming plates. These devices are self-regulating thermistors, and can therefore eliminate the need for a thermostat or other control circuitry in these applications.

The PTCHP devices offer a 1200-Ω resistance value at +25°C with a ±35% tolerance, and are specified for a 230-Vac rated voltage and 265-Vac maximum voltage. Samples and production quantities of the series of PTC thermistors are available now.
