Spotlight on Digital Power
Suited to IGBT power filtering and dc-link inverter applications, Cornell Dubilier’s Type 947C is a high-current medium-power film capacitor for dc filtering up to 1200 Vdc. The 947C’s higher voltage and current handling allows it to replace aluminum electrolytics in dc link applications that can use lower bus capacitance as is typically the case with inverters designed for wind energy, solar and fuel cell applications supplying to the grid.
Device type: metalized polypropylene film capacitor
Capacitance range: 160 μF to 730 μF
Voltage ratings: 800 V, 1000 V, or 1200 V
Features: ability to handle currents up to 72 A at frequencies up to 20 kHz; ripple currents up to 100 kHz and peak voltages up to 1800 V
Operating temperature range: –40°C to +85°C
Packaging: 90-mm aluminum cylinder, which is electrically isolated from the capacitor and in lengths of 97 mm, 120 mm, 145 mm and 170 mm with a choice of M5 threaded insert terminals or M8 threaded stud terminals on the top and an optional M12 mounting stud on the bottom
RoHS compliant? yes
Target applications: IGBT power filtering and dc-link inverter applications including renewable energy inverters, aircraft inverters, and those used in electric vehicles, industrial motor drives, elevators, cranes, and welders
