Automotive Relay Saves Space

Feb 26, 2008 10:58 AM

Fujitsu Components has released what it describes as the market’s smallest 40-A, high-temperature-grade automotive printed-circuit-board relay. Capable of switching heavy loads such as for power outlets, fan motors, electronic power steering and starters, the FBR53-HW relay replaces larger plug-in relays to conserve pc-board weight and real estate in electronic control units.

Device type: automotive relay
Contact resistance: 1.2 mΩ average (at 7 A,12 Vdc)
Contact rating: 14 Vdc, 40 A (resistive load with both contacts connected), handles a maximum 80-A inrush.
Contact arrangement: 1 Form U (Form A)
Voltages: standard coil voltages of 9 Vdc, 10 Vdc and 12 Vdc
Coil power consumption: 860 mW at rated coil voltage
Operating temperature range: -40ºC to +125ºC
Operating life: a mechanical life expectancy of 10 million operations and an electrical life of 100,000 operations
Packaging: 5.5 mm (L) x 12.2 mm (W) x 13.7 mm (H), surface-mount compatible
Weight: Approx. 6 g
RoHS compliant? constructed of lead-free materials and meets environmental disposal program requirements
Target applications: automotive, commercial and recreational vehicles
Pricing: $3.50 per device in 10,000-piece quantities
Availability: available now
