AVX Corporation has developed a 0.5mm pitch, low-insertion-force (LIF) FFC/FPC connector series for price-sensitive applications. The low-profile 6284 Series connectors feature a staggered dual-contact arrangement that makes positioning and insertion of the FFC/FPC cable easier. In addition, this design enhances mating security by increasing the separation force.
"The new 6284 LIF FFC/FPC connector design requires an insertion force of almost 25% less than other LIF connectors, while its separation force is around double that of other connectors," said Nick Bogovich, marketing manager for Kyocera Elco Connectors.
With a low profile of 1.5mm, the 6284 Series connectors are available from eight to 60 positions and can be customized to meet application requirements. The operating temperature ranges from -40ºC to +85ºC, and can be extended to +105ºC to meet requirements for use in automotive applications. The 6284 connectors are ideal for white and brown goods, including audio/video/recording devices, set-top boxes and satellite receivers. The simplicity of mating is also well suited for medical applications and industrial test and measurement equipment.
Pricing typically starts at $0.30 or less with a lead time of 12 weeks ARO.
