AVX Corporation, has announced a new low ESR tantalum capacitor range which includes - for the first time - low ESR 330µF/6.3V parts in a C case size (6032-26). Previously, the only low ESR option within this capacitance/voltage (C/V) ratio was only available in the larger D case size (7343-31).
With an ESR as low as 80m?, TPS Series capacitors are suitable for smoothing and filtering on 3.3V power rails, a common output voltage of DC/DC convertors. Thanks to its high capacitance capability, the TPS Series capacitors can also be used for battery support in handheld devices, where small size is a key design requirement.
"Reducing the case size from D to C will significantly contribute to cost-saving which is a high priority across these price-sensitive market segments," said Pavla Skopalová, Technical Support for AVX's European Tantalum Division.
The TPS Series tantalum capacitors have a maximum direct leakage current of 19.8?A and a maximum dissipation factor at 120Hz of 12%. Operating temperature range is -55°C to +125°C. In addition, these devices meet the requirements of AEC-Q200 for the automotive industry.
Pricing is set at competitive market levels with a lead time of 23 weeks.
