Vishay Intertechnology has introduced three new series of axial-leaded wirewound/metal oxide resistors competitively priced for high-volume applications. The new devices, for power ratings from 1 W up to 20 W, are intended for applications that require capacitive discharge, short-term pulsing, high power dissipation, voltage division and dc-to-dc conversion in end products including white goods, home entertainment systems, power tools and power supplies.
The CA wirewound resistor is auto-insertable for easy integration into kitchen appliances, automotive devices and consumer devices. It is available in two models with power ratings of 1 W and 2 W and a resistance range of 0.1 Ω to 1 kΩ. Other specifications include tolerances of ±5% and ±10%, a temperature coefficient of ±350 ppm/°C, and an operating temperature range of -65°C to +275°C.
The Vishay Dale CP high-volume wirewound/metal oxide resistor offers a high power-to-size ratio with a power rating range of 2 W to 20 W. Length-by-width dimensions range from 18 mm × 7 mm to 60 mm × 14 mm with heights from 7 mm to 13.5 mm. Depending on resistance value, the CP resistors are available with a wirewound element on woven fiberglass core or with a metal oxide element on ceramic core.
Resistance values for the CP high-volume resistor range from 0.1 Ω to 1 kΩ in the wirewound technology and 83 Ω to 50 kΩ in the metal oxide technology, both with tolerances of ±5% and ±10%. The device features a temperature coefficient of ±400 ppm/°C and an operating temperature range of -65°C to +275°C.
The CPCC and CPCF high-volume resistors are space-saving solutions that mount vertically on the printed circuit board. These resistors combine power ratings from 3 W to 10 W and length-by-width dimensions from 12 mm × 8 mm to 16 mm × 12 mm, with heights from 25 mm up to 35 mm, respectively. Furthermore, these resistors deliver a high power-to-size ratio. Resistance values range from 0.1 Ω to 50 kΩ. Like the CP resistors, the CPCC and CPCF devices utilize wirewound and metal oxide technology and feature a temperature coefficient of ±400 ppm/°C and an operating temperature range of -65°C to +275°C.
Samples of the new resistor series are available now. Pricing for U.S. delivery for 10,000-piece quantities ranges from $0.04 to $0.15 per piece, depending on model, size and resistance value.
