AVX has produced an extended-range tantalum capacitor series that offers additional ratings in high CV with smaller case sizes than previously available. Designed specifically for military applications, the CWR19 and CWR29 capacitors are mil-qualified up to failure rates of B and C. In addition to military, the CWR19 and CWR29 capacitors are suitable for harsh-environment applications such as space exploration and aerospace.
The molding compound used for the CWR19 and CWR29 capacitors meets the requirements of UL94V-0 and outgassing requirements of NASA SP-R0022A. Both capacitors also feature a standard capacitance tolerance of ±10% and ±20% over the temperature range of –55°C to +125°C.
Three termination finishes include fused solder plated (“K” per MIL-PRF-55365), hot solder-dipped (“C”) and gold-plated (“B") high-heat dissipation. Compliant terminations decouple board stresses from the capacitor element and provide dependability through mounting and reflow processing.
“For applications that require better filtering capabilities, the CWR29 capacitors take all of the ratings that are available in the popular CWR09 and CWR19 series and make them available in low-ESR versions,” said Danny Lane, AVX product Manager.
Typical pricing for quantities above 5000 pieces is $8 each for the CWR19 and $9 each for the CWR29. Parts are also available with "C" Weibull testing.
