Advanced Analogic Technologies, a developer of power management solutions, has been certified by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. as an Eco-Partner Affiliate Company in its Green Procurement Program. Eco-Partners are suppliers that have fulfilled Samsung’s standards for establishing an ongoing environmental quality control system.
Samsung established the Eco-Partner Program as part of its Green Procurement Policy, which defines Green Procurement as the purchase of raw materials, parts and packaging materials that do not contain hazardous substances. These substances include cadmium, lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, PBBs and PBDEs.
To achieve this certification, AnalogicTech provided data and documentation, and successfully completed a Green Procurement Audit. All of the company’s complete, packaged components meet the Eco-Partner Program requirements. AnalogicTech provided a warranty letter, test results from the hazardous materials analysis and a plan for complying with Samsung’s hazardous materials phase-out schedule.
Before this certification, AnalogicTech had already begun complying with environmental regulations, including the European Union’s RoHS Directive (restricting the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment). In 2003, the company initiated its lead-free compliance program in response to growing public concern about the environmental impacts of lead. Since January 2004, all of AnalogicTech products have been available in lead-free packaging, well ahead of the RoHS deadline of July 1, 2006, for products sold within the EU.
