Intersil’s ISL8120 dual-output or variable-phase PWM controller combines a wide input- voltage range, current sharing and variable phase shifting to create a highly scalable controller design.
Device type: dual/n-phase buck PWM controller with integrated drivers
Input voltage range: 2.97 V to 24 V
Features: each chip can be configured as two single-phase outputs or one dual-phase output; current sharing enables multiple chips to be paralleled for a cost-efficient dual output or n-phase PWM controller design with up to 12 phases delivering a single 300-A output; each phase delivers up to 25 A based upon MOSFET selection; device’s gate drive voltage ranges from 2.7 V to 5.5 V; controller can perform overcurrent sensing by dc resistance (DCR), RDS(ON) or external sense resistance; internal linear regulator provides a 5.4-V bias from VIN; controller also offers true differential remote sensing, digital soft-start with pre-charged output startup capability, power-good indication, programmable 150-kHz to 1.5-MHz switching frequency, and frequency synchronization
Protection features: protection against overcurrent, overtemperature, output overvoltage and undervoltage; fault hand-shake capability
Operating temperature range: 0ºC to 70ºC or -40ºC to 85ºC
Packaging: 32-lead, 5-mm x 5-mm QFN
RoHS compliant? yes
Target applications: datacom or telecom systems, RAID systems, power modules, power supplies or industrial applications
Pricing: $4.31 each in 1000-unit quantities
