System Managers Feature Nonvolatile Fault Registers

Feb 26, 2008 11:19 AM

Maxim Integrated Products’ MAX16046-MAX16049 are12-/8-channel, EEPROM-configurable, voltage sequencers/monitors/marginers that use nonvolatile fault registers to store system voltage and fault information upon a critical system failure. This capability helps users identify a failing voltage rail and isolate the cause of board failures during test debug or failure analysis.

Device type: EEPROM-programmable system managers with non-volatile fault registers
Features: the ability to sequence, reverse sequence, monitor, and margin up to 12 supplies (MAX16046/MAX16047) or 8 supplies (MAX16048/MAX16049); the ability to dynamically sequence and reverse sequence in any order; fault registers that store system voltage and fault information in nonvolatile EEPROM; 1% accurate 10-bit ADC monitors; multipurpose GPIOs; I2C interface with timeout and JTAG interface
Operating voltage range: 3 V to 14 V
Supply current (ICC): 6.5 mA max. (VCC=14 V, VEN=3.3 V, no-load on any output)
Operating temperature range:-40ºC to 85ºC
Packaging: 56-pin, 8-mm x 8-mm TQFN
Target applications: high-reliability systems such as storage, telecom, or networking equipment
Pricing: starts at $8.16 each in quantities of 100
Availability: Samples available now
Data sheet posted on web? yes, see www.maxim-ic.com/MAX16046 and
www.maxim-ic.com/MAX16047

Notes: The ADC measures each input voltage and compares the result to one upper, one lower, and one selectable upper or lower threshold limit. Multipurpose GPIOs are EEPROM-configurable as dedicated fault outputs, a watchdog input or output, a manual reset, or as margin-control inputs.;I2C with timeout and JTAG interface
