Tighter Tolerances for Thin Film Networks

Jun 3, 2003 12:00 PM, Edited by PETech Staff

6/3/2003 Tighter Tolerances for Thin Film Networks Providing electronic design engineers with new levels of precision and stability, TT electronics BI Technologies has enhanced its nickel-chromium thin film technology to produce resistor networks with absolute tolerances less than 0.05% and TCRs below 25ppm/°C. The company’s recent investments in advanced production equipment and processes, including laser tailoring, ion beam milling and sputtering systems, have increased the capability, capacity, and the reliability of its nickel-chromium thin film resistor line.

BI Technologies offers precision resistor networks in a wide range of standard and custom resistance values from 10 Ω to 1 MΩ, with isolated or bused schematics incorporating from four to 23 resistors. Absolute tolerances are less than 0.05%, with ratio tolerances between resistors within a network less than 0.01%. TCR values are less than 25ppm/°C, and tracking is less than 2ppm over the temperature range of –55°C to +125°C. Long-term stability is typically 50ppm/year. Standard and custom networks are available in most popular plastic or hermetically sealed IC package types, including SOIC and QSOP.
