Small Footprint PCB-Mount Two-in-One Current Sensors

Jan 21, 2003 12:00 PM, PE Tech Staff

HVPSI Component Sales Division, currently introducing the Kohshin Electric Corp. line of open-loop and closed-loop Hall current sensors to North America, has announced its new two-in-one current sensor lineup. Standing only 0.5 in. above the printed circuit board, the tiny 0.6-in. × 0.9-in. footprint offers the smallest space factor available in the market.

Two product categories are available: 3A, 5A, 10A, and 20A; and 25A, 30A, 40A, and 50A. Each type has separate and independent primary windings and output pins. They can be specified to operate from +5V to 15V supplies. In addition, an option is available for unipolar operation, where the output, normally +2.5V (input current = 0), can be fixed or proportional to input voltage. An output accuracy of +1.5% and linearity of +1% is offered.

The HC-PRX 3A–20A and the HC-PRX 25A-50A Sensors have a standard operating temperature range of –10°C to +80°C. All versions are guaranteed to 2500Vac withstand voltage. Potting material is UL94V-0 compliant. Their internal conformal coating provides an effective barrier to moisture.

These open loop ac-dc current sensors are well suited for use in inverters, servo drives, UPS, and power supplies.

Priced from $9.00 each in quantities of 1000, samples are available now. For more information, contact Sallie Adams at (972) 248-7691 (ext. 161), or visit the Web site at www.hvpowersystems.com.
