Resistor Programmable Oscillator Feb 28, 2003 12:00 PM, Edited by PE Tech Staff The LTC6902 from Linear Technology is a precision, easy-to-use, resistor programmable oscillator that provides up to four output phases. Its frequency can be varied from 5 kHz to 20 MHz, with 1.5% accuracy and 40 ppm/°C temperature stability using a single external resistor. Ideal for reducing switching regulator-induced EMI, the output can be Spread Spectrum Frequency Modulated (SSFM), with the amount of spread set by a second resistor. The LTC6902 uses a pseudorandom noise (PRN) technique to spread the oscillator's energy over a wide frequency band, thereby decreasing peak electromagnetic radiation. Offered in a compact 10-lead MSOP package, the LTC6902 is fully specified over the industrial (-40°C to 85°C) temperature range.
