Enpirion Inc. has appointed Mark Downing as its CEO. Downing brings to Enpirion more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with a focus on the analog and power management business.
Downing joins Enpirion from Micrel Semiconductor, where he served as VP of marketing for three years and was responsible for defining the strategic direction of the company and each of its product lines. His responsibilities also included driving the product definition and applications engineering functions in the each of the businesses, including power management.
During his 20-year career in the semiconductor industry, Downing has served in a variety of management positions in marketing, product applications, business development and business management. In addition to Micrel, Downing's experience includes three years at Pericom Semiconductor Corp. as the VP of marketing; 10 years at National Semiconductor Corp., most recently as the marketing director for Power Management Products; and five years with Ferranti Electronics Ltd.
Downing is a native of the United Kingdom but has lived and worked in the United States for the last 10 years. He holds a B.S. in Physics from Aston University of Birmingham, England, and an MBA from Open University of Milton Keynes, England.
