Spotlight on Digital Power
V-Infinity has introduced a series of point-of-load dc-dc converters intended for a range of distributed power architecture applications, including mobile communications and computing. Available in 5-A, 15-A and 16-A versions, the nonisolated VPOL series offers efficiencies of up to 94%, while operating within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. These SIP and SMT units are compact, measuring 22.9 mm × 13.76 mm × 5.6 mm in the 5-A SIP models and 20.3 mm × 11.43 mm × 6.1 mm in the 5-A SMT version.
The VPOL series accepts an input of 5 V or 12 V with output voltages ranging from 0.75 V to 5 V. Output voltage is trimmable via an external resistor. Features include remote on/off, continuous short-circuit protection, output overcurrent protection, and overtemperature protection. All VPOL units are UL certified. OEM pricing starts at $10.00 per unit.
