Linear Technology has selected Ixia, a provider of high-performance IP network testing solutions, to demonstrate and test the full feature capabilities of its Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) chipset. Linear Technology employs Ixia's PoE test solution to verify and demonstrate conformance of the LTC4259A quad PSE controller to the IEEE 802.3af standard for PoE devices.
"We use Ixia's Power over Ethernet test solution to demonstrate the many functions of our PSE Controller chipset," said Todd Nelson, product marketing manager for Linear Technology's Mixed Signal products. "By utilizing Ixia's PoE test solution, our customers can demonstrate the full capabilities and standard compliance of our solution."
The Ixia PoE system verifies powered device (PD) detection signature ranges, PD classification, maintain power signature for ac or dc disconnect methods (ACMPS and DCMPS), inrush current limiting, short-circuit protection, as well as many other capabilities of the Linear Technology devices. The PoE test system is designed for use with Ixia's line of Ethernet network interfaces, which provide data traffic generation and analysis to verify the power sourcing capabilities of the PSE and to verify that data traffic is not impacted by varying power load conditions as defined by the IEEE 802.3af standard.
