Spotlight on Digital Power
As part of its ongoing strategy to expand its presence in the power management arena, ON Semiconductor has hired Larry Sims as vice president and general manager of its Analog Products Division.
Sims most recently served as vice president and general manager of the communications IC business at Intersil Corp., where he successfully grew gross margins and reduced overhead costs. Prior to this experience, Sims was the vice president of Sales and Marketing at Intersil Corp.
Prior to Intersil, Sims spent 13 years at Motorola in a range of positions, including international sales, marketing, operations and planning. Sims also worked as a manufacturer’s representative focusing on analog power technologies for automotive and industrial markets at National Semiconductor earlier in his career.
“Larry has been a key figure in the development of the power-management semiconductor market and has a track record for building successful technology businesses in this arena,” said Keith Jackson, ON Semiconductor president and CEO. “Larry’s leadership and experience will be an important asset in our efforts to grow our power-management business through the accelerated introduction of new products and working to provide our customers with an increasing value proposition.”
