Spotlight on Digital Power
Torex recently announced that it is launching the XC6214 series, offering higher performance than its previous generation.
Specialized for high current applications, the XC6214 is manufactured using Torex’s CMOS process and is capable of delivering more than 500 mA with built-in thermal and current limiting protection circuits. Power consumption is low, with a typical figure being only 8 µA. The series is compatible with the use of ceramic capacitors.
The XC6214 series is a highly precise, high current, positive voltage low dropout regulator, suitable for applications such as DVD and CD-ROM equipment, wireless communication equipment, portable audiovisual products, desktop and portable computers, wireless networks and other battery-powered devices.
Output voltage is selectable in 100-mV increments, within a range of 1.5 V to 5 V. The compatibility with low equivalent series resistance ceramic capacitors offers added output stability. Voltage accuracy is guaranteed to within ±2%. The series operates in a temperature range of –40°C to 85°C and it is available in SOT-26 and SOT 89 packages.
