Medical/Industrial Power Supply Has Active PFC

Dec 14, 2005 11:28 AM

The APS400MX Series of 400-W switching power supplies from Advanced Power Solutions offers single and dual outputs ranging from 2 Vdc to 58 Vdc with a broad range of standard options to meet customer specific requirements.

These power supplies come in a standard u-frame package measuring only 5 in. × 8 in. × 1.60 in., or with an optional end-mount fan cover extending the depth to 9 in. The supplies feature universal ac input with active power factor correction (EN61000-3-2 Class D), low leakage of less than 300 µA and dual-fused input protection.

The units offer an extensive range of status and control features, including remote sense, current sharing, remote on/off, power fail, voltage monitoring, voltage margining of 50% to 100% and an auxiliary 12-V fan output. The supplies offer constant voltage characteristics as standard with an option for constant current operation (suitable for battery-charging applications). They also may be configured with internal ORing diodes for redundant applications.

The supplies are approved to UL60601-1/EN60601-1/CSA 22.2 No. 601-1-M.90 Safety Approvals and bear the CE Mark (LVD). Standard units are available from stock. Example pricing for standard single output unit is as low as $140 for 1000-piece quantities.
