Agreement to Foster Use of Liquid Cooling in Defense Electronics

May 18, 2005 2:15 PM

Parker Hannifin has signed a co-marketing agreement with Mercury Computer Systems of Chelmsford, Mass., a provider of high-performance embedded digital and signal image processing computer systems for sophisticated real-time defense applications.

The co-marketing agreement lays the groundwork for an ongoing relationship between Mercury and Parker’s Advanced Cooling Systems (ACS) business unit, part of the Parker Aerospace Group. Parker ACS provides liquid cooling system solutions that offer customers flexibility and choice in design, mechanical and fluid system packaging, and field maintenance capabilities.

According to Jeff O'Reilly, business development manager for Parker ACS, the co-marketing agreement benefits both companies. “A relationship with Mercury gives Parker high visibility in the military COTS embedded computing market,” he said. “Mercury will benefit through access to our advanced liquid and spray cooling solutions as they apply to the higher power levels and increased heat dissipation demands of COTS-based embedded defense electronics.”

O’Reilly went on to add that both companies also would benefit from future joint development projects to meet customers’ pending needs for enhanced processing with increasing thermal budgets. "By working together, Mercury and Parker will be able to provide customers with a more complete compute system solution and a single source for an integrated product," O'Reilly said.

The Mercury/Parker co-marketing agreement was announced at the Military Embedded Electronics and Computing Conference (MEECC) being held in Long Beach, Calif.
