According to a recent report from BCC Research, the global market for active electronic components is expected to increase from $144 billion in 2012 to nearly $230 billion by 2017, rising at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.7%.

The global market for active electronic components can be broken down into four regions - Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and the rest of the world.

The Asia-Pacific region is expected to amount to $77.7 billion in 2012, and should be worth $136.5 billion by the end of 2017, a CAGR of 11.9%. The European region is projected to amount to $27.1 billion in 2012 and should reach $36.4 billion in 2017, a CAGR of 6.1%. The North American region, estimated to be worth $23.4 billion in 2012, should be worth $31.6 billion in 2017, a CAGR of 6.2%. The region made up of the rest of the world is projected to total $16.3 billion in 2012 and in 2017 should reach $25.3 billion, a CAGR of 9.2%.

Electronic components are essential to areas such as computers, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and many others. Electronic components form electronic circuitry, and are used or manufactured in the electronics field, which is the study of electrical devices used for controlling electrically charged particles or the flow of electrons to execute any electrical operation.

The electronics industry is basically the business of creating, designing, producing, and selling devices such as radios, televisions, stereos, computers, and other electronic products. The electronic components industry offers the various components the electronic industry needs to build these electronic products. Both industries complement each other and form a major segment that caters to economies in countries throughout the world.

This report offers a quantitative and qualitative summary of the global electronic components and semiconductors market size and market shares. In addition, major companies within the industry are profiled, and an analysis of competition within the market and important financial metrics are also provided. This report also provides details such as macroeconomic information, study of growth trends in the market, segmentation data, and market size.

This report will be useful to a wide variety of readers interested in the electronics industry, and will be most useful to the following market participants: manufacturers of active electronic components, manufacturers of electronic products using these active electronic components, design and application engineers, and various industries needing active electronic components.
