Versatile LDO Supports Advanced CPUs

Microchip Technology’s MCP1726 is a 1-A low-dropout regulator (LDO) with low-voltage performance and various functions that support next-generation high-performance CPUs and logic cores. The LDO generates voltages as low as 0.8 V at 1 A and is stable with a 1-µF ceramic output capacitor.

Offered in an 8-pin DFN or SOIC package, the chip also features a power good output with programmable delay option. This capability allows engineers to program a system delay on a wider timeframe. Other features include a 140-µA maximum ground current, a 150-mV typical dropout voltage, and shutdown and/or reset options.

The MCP1726 LDO is available now for sampling and volume production. The device is priced at $1.31 each in 1000-unit quantities.
