The ETL SEMKO division of Intertek, provider of testing, inspection and certification, has announced the acquisition of International Approvals Laboratories (IAL), a Boulder, Colo.-based testing lab. As part of Intertek, the lab is one of the first product safety and EMC testing operations serving manufacturers’ global regulatory needs throughout the Denver region.
“Manufacturers in the west-central region have long needed a local EMC and electrical safety testing provider with global reach,” said Gregg Tiemann, president, Intertek ETL SEMKO Americas. “Now, operating within Intertek’s global network, the Boulder lab provides manufacturers with a full suite of regulatory testing services and global approvals. Efficiencies gained through local operations will accelerate manufacturers’ product-to-market cycles.”
The acquisition augments Intertek’s regulatory testing capacity. Intertek’s recognition as a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) by OSHA provides manufacturers with local access to product safety testing and certification for North American market entry.
Products found in compliance with applicable North American standards will bear Intertek’s widely recognized ETL-Listed Mark. In addition, Intertek can provide manufacturers with access to more than 40 countries through one testing regimen.
“IAL has built its reputation through excellent customer service and top-notch EMC testing for many industries,” said Principal Engineer Todd Seeley, International Approvals Laboratories, LLC. “Now we may continue to offer the same outstanding service with the added value of product safety testing and Intertek’s ETL-Listed Mark.”
