Spotlight on Digital Power
Active Power has entered into a business relationship with Numeric Power Systems Ltd. to distribute its CleanSource DC flywheel energy storage systems in India. The CleanSource DC acts as a replacement or supplement to batteries in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and is available in several power ratings ranging from 100 kW to 2000 kW. Numeric Power Systems, an on-line UPS manufacturing company, has more than 100 sales and service centers throughout India.
“We are extremely pleased with the opportunity to sell Active Power’s CleanSource DC in the Indian market,” stated Mr. Chellappan, managing director of Numeric Power Systems. “We are confident that this product will be well-received by our customers. In fact, many such users are already interested in the reliability and environmental friendliness of Active Power’s flywheel technology.”
“Active Power is proud to be developing a relationship with the leading UPS manufacturer in India, Numeric Power Systems,” said Joe Pinkerton, chairman and CEO of Active Power. “Our products are a great fit in India, where the stability of the utility grid is being outpaced by the growth of the country’s industrial and IT markets. Our flywheel systems, which have near-limitless discharge cycles, have proven to be very durable and cost-efficient in similar environments, such as Eastern Europe and Northern Africa.”
