Spotlight on Digital Power
Enpirion, a provider of integrated power solutions, has closed its second round of funding with a total of $17 million invested. RRE Ventures and Columbia Capital led the round with participation from new investor Intel Capital and the original Series A participants, Canaan Partners and SAS Investors, both participating pro-rata. Jim Robinson from RRE Ventures and Hemant Kanakia from Columbia Capital will become Directors of the company. The investment will be used to ramp production, sales and marketing expansion, as well as future product development.
"We believe the near-term potential for power management products is substantial and growing very rapidly," said Jim Robinson from RRE Ventures. "As the world of electronics gets smaller, we believe there are great opportunities for Enpirion to add value in their target markets, including the handheld and mobile segments. We are extremely excited to be a part of bringing this key enabling technology to the market."
"What attracted us to Enpirion was the unprecedented integration of power management functionality achieved by them," said Hemant Kanakia from Columbia Capital. "Their product line simplifies the power design process and saves board space in server, handheld and mobile applications. We are excited to be part of the team."
"We are thrilled to have our new top tier and strategic investors onboard," said Mark Downing, Enpirion's CEO. "We are also very pleased with our existing investors' confidence in the success of Enpirion, by their participation pro-rata in this round of funding. As we enter into our next phase of growth, Round B will enable us to ramp our initial products into production and will provide a basis for the development and expansion of our product line into several new markets."
