PowerDsine has been awarded a patent in the United States for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) functionality in a connector assembly. Patent #6,916,206, issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on July 12, 2005, is addressed to a connector assembly, such as an RJ-45, which provides certain PoE functionality. This patent builds on PowerDsine's previously issued connector patent #6,764,343, issued in November 2004, and is an important part of the company’s strategy to achieve technological leadership.
“This U.S. patent adds to our growing list of issued patents and illustrates PowerDsine’s continued commitment to develop Power-over-Ethernet technology,” said PowerDsine CEO Igal Rotem. “We believe that integrating Power-over-Ethernet functionality with a connector assembly is of great benefit to those switch manufacturers seeking a simple PoE solution that minimizes the footprint in Ethernet switch designs.”
