Component Vendors Expand Asian Operations

Apr 27, 2005 4:01 PM

Cooper Electronic Technologies, a unit of Cooper Bussmann, continues its expansion into Asian markets with the acquisition of Save Fusetech, a privately-held manufacturer of electronic fuses and related products. Headquartered in Seoul, Save Fusetech designs, manufactures and sells overcurrent protection products throughout South Korea and other parts of Asia.

“Save Fusetech has outstanding manufacturing technology and well-established distribution channels that will help to accelerate the sales of all Cooper Electronic Technologies products into South Korea,” said Helio Sakaya, vice president of sales. “This acquisition also brings to us new, proprietary products that complement and strengthen our existing portfolio of global electronic components.”

Cooper Electronic Technologies, a unit of Cooper Bussmann, is a global manufacturer of over-current and over-voltage protection devices, supercapacitors and magnetics. Brand names include Bussmann electronic fuses, Coiltronics magnetics, PolySurg ESD suppression components and PowerStor supercapacitors. Additional information about the company is available at www.cooperET.com.

Another component supplier, Alliance Semiconductor, a provider of high-performance ICs, announced an Asia Pacific distribution partnership agreement with Nu Horizons Electronics Asia, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nu Horizons Electronics. Under the terms of the agreement, Nu Horizons will distribute Alliance’s complete product portfolio of analog and mixed-signal products, bus connectivity and networking ICs, and high-performance and specialty SRAM to countries in the region.

The list of countries affected by the agreement includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Alliance Semiconductor’s mixed-signal products include clock, timing and power devices.
