Celestica Inc. has expanded its Volant Series of dc-dc converters, with new output programmable 5-A and 10-A nonisolated point of load solutions.

The new 5-A model is available in 12 Vin (NEA005) and 5 Vin (NCA005) versions, while the new 10-A model is available in a 12 Vin version (NEA010). These models also offer flexibility with a programmable output voltage through use of an external resistor. With the proliferation of different voltages to power multiple processors and ASICs in today’s systems, this feature presents a significant advantage for OEMs.

Using industry-standard pin configurations, the Volant Series converters are available in both SIP and SMT packages for highly dense systems requiring optimum board real estate. The new 10-A SMT package is available in a 1.30-in. x 0.53-in. x 0.33-in. form factor, while the SIP package dimensions are 2 in x 0.327 in. x 0.50 in. Boasting an even smaller form factor than Celestica’s other Volant Series converters, the new 5-A SMT package is available in 0.80 in. x 0.45 in. x 0.24 in., and the SIP package in dimensions of 0.90-in. x 0.40-in. x 0.22-in.

The Volant Series product family provides OEMs with a variety of high-efficiency, low-cost solutions for computing, storage and communications equipment. Positive Enable Logic and Negative Enable Logic models are available, providing added flexibility for system enable logic compatibility. With efficiencies of up to 95%, the Volant Series delivers industry-leading output current and thermal derating performance. These three new additions complete the 5-V input (NCA, NCF series) and 12-V input (NEA, NEF series) product lines, offering scalable solutions at 5 A, 10 A and 16 A.
