Saft Batteries, a manufacturer of specialized batteries for industrial and defense applications, recently announced the appointment of David Roller as director of defense sales. Roller will be responsible for supporting the sales and business development objectives of the Saft Space and Defense Division. He will focus on lithium-ion (Li-ion) cell technology and batteries for specialty defense applications.
“David brings 15 years of experience in the military battery industry,” said Patrick McDevitt, corporate communications manager for Saft. “He has a great deal of knowledge within the space and defense industries; we are pleased to welcome David to the Saft team.”
Prior to joining Saft, Roller held positions in marketing, business development and program management with Alliant Techsystems. While there, he managed marketing and sales activities for lithium primary and reserve batteries for military and space applications. Recently, Roller developed large Li-ion cells for underwater vehicle applications.
Roller earned both a B.S. in electrical engineering and a M.S. in mechanical engineering at Drexel University. A frequent presenter at various trade and industry related conferences; Roller is a member of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Navy League, National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and Electrochemical Society.
