Vicor Launches Technical Library

Vicor Corp. has announced the launch of its Technical Library as a component of the Vicor Web site. Vicor’s Library offers power engineers the basics of designing with component power modules; novel approaches to EN compliance; and information about the differences between Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) and Factorized Power Architecture (FPA) at their fingertips. The Library is easily accessible via Vicor’s Web site.

Initial offerings in the Vicor Library include the acclaimed video seminar, “Designing With Component Power Modules,” which provides system designers with extensive design information. The technical content includes electrical, mechanical, and thermal design; control, mounting, EMI, and paralleling considerations; module do’s and don’ts; and application examples. Users have the option of searching by specific topic through an interactive table of contents and can quickly access supporting technical documentation, such as data sheets, video demonstrations, and technical articles. Also available are web casts on EN compliance and power supply design considerations for high di/dt loads. All information in the Library is available for download.

The Technical Library is also the source for the latest information on Vicor’s Factorized Power Architecture and the V•I Chip products. The "Why Factorized Power Architecture" web cast by Vicor’s CEO, Patrizio Vinciarelli, reviews the attributes and limitations of current power distribution architectures, discusses FPA and compares FPA and IBA. Another web cast, "Introducing Quarter Brick Intermediate Bus Converters," by Andrew Hilbert, senior director of product marketing, discusses how the 100-A, 600-W V•I Chip Bus Converter Modules, with industry-standard quarter brick footprint and pinout, can offer superior performance in IBA applications.

The site provides “one-click” access to Vicor’s interactive design tools and design calculators, as well as a broad variety of technical documentation, such as product data sheets, applications manuals, mechanical drawings, and quality and certification information.
