Certification Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Activities associated with certification of Mid-Continent designed products, such as:

  • Authoring of certification plans, test plans, and/or test reports
  • Execution of test programs to verify compliance to all applicable performance, regulatory, and quality requirements
  • Identify and participate with external resources and labs to perform tests out-of-house
  • Design, build, and/or specification of equipment and accessories necessary for test and new product development
  • Interaction with FAA representatives as needed to support certification

Activities associated with evaluation of new technology, components, designs, etc:

  • Assistance creating product definition and specifications driven by regulatory requirements
  • Work with design engineers to identify solutions to technical challenges
  • Research requirements and technology to determine feasibility within an application
  • Test or otherwise provide sufficient data to verify viability of technology incorporation
  • Part and vendor evaluation and qualification

Activities associated with production support:

  • Specify and/or build designed test equipment for the purpose of production qualification
  • Write acceptance test procedures, minimum performance requirements, and related items
  • Troubleshoot test failures and product designs

Other responsibilities as assigned:

  • Become knowledgeable of industry, regulatory, and customer standards/requirements
  • Assist with prototype build and evaluation
  • Coordinate with other functional teams during the life cycle of the product

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, EET or similar considered
  • 5+ years relevant experience (compensation based on experience)
  • Direct experience with industry, regulatory, and/or military standards/specifications required
  • Familiarity/experience with RTCA DO-160, RTCA DO-311 and FAA TSO highly preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interface with production personnel, engineering, management, and other departments.

Electrical Design Engineer — Battery Systems Emphasis
