1-Way Connector Features Power Brass Contacts

Sep 12, 2011 10:41 AM

ITT Interconnect Solutions has expanded its rugged APD Series to include a 1-way connector featuring power brass contacts for vehicle power train, alternative energy, and otherharsh environment applications.  The APD Series 1-way interconnect with brass contacts optimizes the operating current and provides a 20% cost-savings compared to the machined high-performance copper contacts used for high power applications.

The new APD 1-way power crimp brass contact is available in cable cross-sections from 16mm² up to 50mm² and has a current rating up to 255A at 25°C (50mm² cable cross section).  The 50mm² contact has a collared bunch - a circular base added to the end contact to offer a more stable standing in the housing - for exceptionally large cable outer diameters.

The APD Series 1-way connector with brass contacts offers a voltage max of 48 VDC and an operating temperature of -40°C to 125°C.  In addition, the APD Series is sealed to IP67 and IP69K requirements.

Additional applications for the APD Series 1-way connector with power brass contacts include: automotive engines and transmissions; off-road and construction vehicle cabin and chassis; air conditioning and cooling/heating systems; SCR/NOx applications; and the alternative energy market, particularly wind power turbines.
