Queens: Female-Led Wildlife Viewed Through the Latest Tech

March 4, 2024
Queens, a new nature series from National Geographic, documents female-led wildlife in shocking detail thanks to the latest filming technology.

What you’ll learn:

  • What the series “Queens” is all about.
  • The technology used during filming technologies used to capture those lives.

Justine Evans has spent 30 years filming nature and its creatures. Backed by the latest filming technology, she sets out to apply that experience, capturing female-led wildlife experiences on a day-to-day basis. Along with Sophie Darlington, Evans documents the extreme measures matriarchal communities like bonobos and hyenas will take for their young. They record many surprising firsts, like color nighttime shots at the Ngorongoro Crater, an orchid bee brood, and tree cutter ants from up in the canopies.

The Queens production made a short teaser just for us here at Electronic Design:

The “Queens” series, from National Geographic, will air on Disney+ today, March 4, 2024. Chloe Sarosh is the showrunner and writer. It’s narrated by Angela Bassett, a queen herself from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I found the series moving and stunning to watch. Life on this planet has so much heart, but we never really get to see it like this. Well worth the watch. Check out the official trailer for the series:
