TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. (NYSE:TRW) says it’s producing active and passive safety systems and components from its China operations to support the launch of the Audi A6 model built at First Auto Works (FAW) in Changchun.
TRW’s joint venture in Changchun, TRW FAWER Automobile Safety System Co., was expanded last year to accommodate the manufacture of driver side and curtain airbag modules and steering wheels. A6 passive safety components are being supplied by Shanghai TRW Automotive Safety System, and actuation and electric park braking products are being supplied by TRW Lucas Varity Langzhong Brake Co. Ltd. in Langfang.
Alain Charlois, vice president, business development for TRW Automotive in Asia-Pacific, said TRW is supplying a full range of active and passive safety products for the A6 from three different Chinese ventures.
