Spectrum Composites has introduced a sensor-triggering tire inflation positioning switch (TIPS) tool for use by service establishments maintaining tire pressure monitoring systems. The tool is used to reprogram the vehicle’s computer each time the wheel position changes, as it does when tires are rotated. It can also be used as a diagnostic tool to determine, prior to vehicle service, if tire pressure monitoring sensors are functioning properly.
The TIPS tool can trigger all known factory-installed magnetic and frequency sensors, including continuous wave, modulated wave and magnetic wave, eliminating the need for service establishments to purchase several different TPMS initiation tools. Service establishments will be able to test a vehicle’s tire sensors prior to removing a wheel, thereby eliminating responsibility for the cost of a faulty sensor.
