TrafficGauge, Inc. is offering a real-time, mobile traffic map for Los Angeles commuters. The palm-size TrafficGauge device, priced at $79.95 plus $6.99 per month, is said to deliver traffic-flow information on an LCD map as often as every four minutes. Users in Seattle, where the device was first introduced, estimate that they save an average of 4.8 hours per month from their ability to avoid congested areas. The Los Angeles version covers 850 freeway miles and four airports.
