Oct 27, 2004 6:25 PM

"Your Growth Imperative: From Vision to Execution" is the theme of the 2005 Automotive News World Congress, to be held Jan. 17-20 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn MI.

Sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM, the Congress will feature speakers such as DaimlerChrysler president and CEO Dieter Zetsche, and Ford CEO Jim Padilla, as well as executives from GM, Mercedes-Benz, MINI USA, Saab, Toyota, and several suppliers.

Presentations and panel discussions will focus on strategies for the automotive industry to prosper in an improving U.S. economy, while continuing to struggle with unrelenting cost pressures fueled by competition and retail incentives.

A panel will discuss "Powertrains of the Future," including the race to develop alternative power plants, the latest key technologies that will shape the future, and what to expect next from regulators, suppliers and automakers.

Also on the agenda is "Transforming Vehicle Development," a panel session covering digital design and assembly and the software revolution that is speeding development times, cutting costs and changing the auto industry.

The registration fee is $1,395 by Nov. 24, $1,595 after Nov. 24, or $850. Online registration is available at http://www.autonews.com/2005worldcongress.
