DiBcom demos chip for mobile TV reception

Feb 16, 2005 2:40 PM

Building on its experience developing digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) chips for mobile car TV receivers, among other products, DiBcom has introduced a chip capable of demodulating digital video broadcasting-handheld (DVB-H) as well as DVB-T transmissions.

The DIB7000 digital TV chip, said to combine robust mobile DVB-T/H reception with ultralow power consumption, is scheduled for integration into portable devices in the United States this year and in Europe in 2006, according to DiBcom president and CEO Yannick Levy.

The chip enables clear and continuous reception at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Housed in an 8x8 mm package and operating at less than 25 mW in DVB-H mode, the chip can easily be integrated into small-form factor display devices.
