Montreal-based AutoVu Technologies has received a U.S. patent for applications based on the use of license plate reading (LPR) technology to monitor, locate or identify vehicles for parking and law enforcement purposes.
AutoVu Chief Executive Officer Pierre Hubert says law enforcement agencies in several Canadian and U.S. cities are using AutoVu's AutoFind mobile LPR system to find stolen vehicles. In the past two years, the technology has helped recover more than 2000 vehicles worth more than $10 million. AutoVu's mobile LPR system for parking enforcement “continues to demonstrate significant revenue gains” to cities that use it.
